How typing speed really grows
Typing speed doesn't come from moving your fingers faster. It comes from thinking in bigger pieces: instead of letter by letter, your fingers learn whole chunks and common words as single movements.
How fast typists think
- Letter level (under 25 WPM): you find each key separately.
- Chunk level (25–50 WPM): common pairs and triples, like th, ing or tion, become one movement.
- Word level (50+ WPM): common words flow out whole, and you read ahead while typing.
How this course moves you up
- The 50 most common words make up almost half of everyday text. Make them automatic first.
- Letter-chunk drills are built from your language's most frequent letter groups.
- Rhythm repeats (each word three times) teach your fingers an even beat.
Practise little and often
Fifteen minutes a day beats two hours once a week. Your fingers learn between sessions, especially during sleep. Set a daily goal in your profile and keep your streak alive.
Rule of thumb: if your accuracy drops below 93%, slow down for a session. Speed built on mistakes doesn't last.
