About this test
The typing test is qualifying: it does not add marks, but you must clear it. SSC defines the speed as 35 WPM ≈ 10,500 key depressions per hour (English) and 30 WPM ≈ 9,000 (Hindi), on an average of 5 key depressions per word.
The test is usually 10 minutes. The error allowance for each category is set in the notice for your recruitment year: always read it before the test.
Keyboards
Hindi candidates may use the InScript layout or Remington (Krutidev/Mangal) layouts allowed in the notice. Practise on the layout you will use on exam day.
