Most people try to type faster by typing faster. It rarely works. Speed is a side effect of a few good habits, and once they stick, your words per minute climb on their own.
1. Keep your fingers on the home row
Rest your index fingers on F and J. Feel the little bumps? Every key is a short trip from there.
2. Accuracy first, speed second
Aim for 95% accuracy before you push for speed. Every mistake costs you a backspace and a moment of broken rhythm.
3. Don't look down
Use the on-screen keyboard instead of your hands. It feels slow for a week, then suddenly it doesn't.
4. Practise your weak keys
Your dashboard shows the keys you miss most. Lessons on TypingForest lean on exactly those keys, so practice time goes where it helps.
5. A little every day
Ten minutes daily beats an hour on Sunday. Keep your streak alive and watch your forest grow.
6. Type in rhythm
Steady, even keystrokes are faster than bursts. Try to make every key take the same time.
7. Make it a game
Races, contests and games keep practice fun, and fun practice is practice you keep doing.
